‘Back in the day the owners of Studio 54 famously dumped a four-inch layer of glitter on the floor for a New Year’s Eve party. The Cremorne didn’t have that much, but Matthew Marshall’s lighting design made sure every piece of glitz sparkled like a beacon. His work was undoubtedly the star of the show. Andy Warhol would have loved it.’

Peter Pinne, Stage Whispers

“It’s Studio 54 in Civic Park babies… Matthew Marshall‘s lighting direction transports you to the D-Floor and is worth the price of admission alone. He seamlessly highlights the blend of the old and the new, and the on point spotlighting adds pizazz to the already magical vibe of the Aurora Spiegeltent.”

“Accompanying the musical genius of the show is the visual feast supplied by lighting designer Matthew Marshall, choreographer Lucas Newland, and set & costume designer James Browne.”

Victoria Beal, Broadwayworld.com

“Directed by Craig Ilott and slickly staged on a set backed by panels of coloured lights (designed by James Browne), with spectacular lighting (Matthew Marshall), Velvet is lots of funky fun.”

Jo Litson, The Daily Telegraph Sydney

“The show is a visual treat with bright, dazzling lighting, complemented by costumes that shimmer, sparkle and pop with colour. Marcia Hines makes her grand entrance about twenty minutes in and appears like a giant gold Logie, in a tight, gold, shining dress.”

Hayley Mayne, australianstage.com.au

“The down-under disco inferno juggernaut VELVET didn’t so much open with a bang last night at The Piano as it did with a super nova. Billed as a divine discotheque circus, it doesn’t disappoint; a dazzling, seductive and breathless 90 minute rollercoaster of killer party tunes is mixed with a mind-expanding light show, hair-raising athletics, hilarious comedy and nervy talent.”
